Okey, since the "thread owner" has been back with a situation report, I thought that I could get off my hands. As I mentioned in my first post, I had gathered conflicting advice and for the sake of simplicity, I decided to ignore it all and it worked. This discussion is kind of deja vu because I initially intrepreted some of the advice as conflicting. Now, let me summarize my understandment ... :p ... :

    Rockster2U says:

This is confusing ( "uninstall old hardware" and "load new drivers ") and upon a request for clarification:

I have DriverCleaner in a folder on my hard disk and also burnt to CD if I should need it but I have never used it. Good catch to caution on the existence of NVIDIA drivers other than video drivers.

    In essence, Chiles4 agrees but:

Chiles4 is more adamant on the use of DriveCleaner whereas Rockster2U says that if you "run into trouble ", use DriveCleaner.

    Finally:

My friend uses a program (SeeYou) to display logfiles from GPS-loggers (flights in gliders) and the software uses Raster Maps (satellite images) which are very hard on the computer in general and particularly on the video card. The flights are displayed in 3D and are "flown" at a 1x to 100x time rate. I assume that this is an "adequate test" of the video card and he says that it is a huge improvement compared to the old video card. I hope that the installation is OK. If not ... ... back to work!

Sorry I haven't replyed in a while. I had to go to the doctor for an uper respritory infection...which may explain an amount of my complete idocy. You see...I've found the problem to why my card wasn't working.

I'd /tried/ attaching my monitor directly to the card, but the monitor's connetion was just too small. I'd thought the only bag of other parts that came with the video card was only the parts to connect it to a TV. However, just now I finally sat down to plug away at trying to get my card to work again...when I came across a little yellow sheet of paper that had some how gotten seperated from all the other peices of paper work that came with the video card. I can only assume this was all a large case of sickness ridden stupidity as I'm usually so careful as nothing like this would have happened. I thought I'd post the story so you could all have a laugh at me though.

It turned out, as the little yellow paper told me, that there was an attachment that MADE the monitor cable fit to the video card somewhere in the bag with the tv cord. ...so I found that and... that was the big foil all along. x.x

I'm sorry for wasting any time and lots of thanks to all of you. The only question I have now is... Windows STILL keeps claiming that the geforce2 is still installed even though it is not there and I've followed all the directions about the add/remove drivers and disabling, uninstalling, and using driver cleaner in safe mode. Is that normal, or is it something I should worry about?

Now you should install the correct drivers that are on the video card's CD.

    ;)

I've already done that, but thank you. ^.^

This whole stupid mistake really makes me glad I decided to go with "Beginner" experiance. I was debating intermediate because I've used computers for YEARS and I've passed a few college classes on computers. Yet when it comes to stuff like this, I still feel clueless.
