    Hi Welt,

In your Bookmarks, are the IE Favorites listed separately? I don't have IE Favorites, so can't look at them on my PC. I believe the Favorites folder is listed separately at the very bottom of the Bookmark List. Do you see that? If so, can you delete them there??? That would cut your bookmarks size by 50%, if I am understanding you correctly.

Ensure that you have backups of your Bookmarks file, before editing.

I don't know why Deadlink is freezing, but the author has his email addy in the "About" drop down window.

If you highlight a section of Bookmarks, then click on "Bookmarks" "Check selected Bookmarks" that would also cut back on the time element, and could eliminate the freeze. That is a huge Bookmark file...

    FWIW,

    Ramona :D

    Hi Ramona

Thanks for your suggestions. All have been carried out already: eg I backed up onto a separate HD and in separate folders, bookmarks from all three browsers; and I've already deleted the IE marks that NS 7.x imported.

Your guess of `half' was very good but it was more like 60% +. Old file was 2152KB and it's now 831KB. I also deleted the NS imported marks from IE which is easy given that all IE marks are retained as single shortcuts within the Favourites Folder in Windows [not in a single file as with NS].

As for Deadlink, I found an email address last night and early this morning, I sent the `freeze-up' and my sytem details to support. Don't know if I'll get a reply but I think its the size of the file.

I'll let you know and thanks.

    Ramona, I forgot.

Cutting the file back to 831KB is unlikely to eliminate the freeze since NS 4.79's - 913KB bookmark file, was the first one to freeze up.
