    Hi,

When I recieve e mails with a 'click here' link to get into their site, it does not work.
I have done this in the past many time with no problems so have probably done something myself to bar this facility.Any one know how I can put it right please?

It would help if we knew which email client you are using - Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail ..... ?

    Try this:

    • Find Set Program Access and Defaults in your control panel
    • Select Custom and then select Internet Explorer as the default web browser
    • Click OK
    • Close the default programs window

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

Tried the above and done all you suggested but still does not work.I have been able to do this in the past and have not changed systems or anything that I can think of.

I have now put all my system details on my profile and apologise for not doing that before.

Please edit your System Details to state your OS - Windows XP I think??

Would you post the version of Internet Explorer that you are using - IE and OE are closely linked.

Since clicking on embedded links can often be dangerous, I believe some security programs no longer allow you to do it. The quickest solution is to highlight the link, hit <CTRL><C>, which copies the text. Then go to your browsers address bar and click <CTRL><V>. This will paste the link directly in your browser and you can then go to the address.

You are using OE - Outlook Express for email and IE - Internet Explorer for browsing. Clicking a link to a web site in an Outlook Express email should then open the web page in Internet Explorer. Your problem is that is doesn't and we have tried the usual fixes.

    Let's investigate further .....

If you start Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode and then go to an email with a link in it does it then work?

To start Internet Explorer in no add-ons mode go Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools - Internet Explorer (no add-ons)

s follows:All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.

Yes - that's right. Go ahead and try running without add-ons. The add-ons will not be removed, they will just not active. The next time you open IE 'normally' all the add-ons will be active.

I am trying to determine if an add-on is causing your problem.
