Except the piazo inside my tower. (I do not know when this happened. I work without sound most of the times on my "own" PCs.) It's w/ ASUS A7V600, besides the XP Pro (SP3) drivers, "SoundMAX (older than v.5.12.01.3620)" .

I humbly beg your pardon if I dropped "this" into a wrong spot. I did searches within the board, and of course, using other engines, too. Found none fit to my case.

Just a bit of this particular system's recap: Never added a sound card. I, quite recently, have been fighting with SATA Raid cards (Adaptec 1210SA) and played with BIOS. I un-inst'ed & re-inst'ed ATI vid card driver "kit "; To do so, I used the DriverCleaner.NET, to get rid of just about "all" the ATI drivers, then inst'ed the latest Catalyst. When I noticed no sound, checked the speakers, device displays; Un-inst'ed the SoundMax, re-installed its driver. Still no workie.

    Could you guide me?

    TIA,

    Kid

Woops... Brought my pin probes home, for my Fluke & chased the current on the mobo. Signal, strength, etc., all running to the ports. I did sfc, "again "; This time with my very 1st setup CD. Folks, the sound's back.

My bad; Sorry for the noise,

    Kid
