Thanks slk230mb for posting back the solution that worked for you. I found something that may also be relevant:

    http://www.experts-exchange.com/Operating_Systems/Win2000/Q_20509354.html

I didn't see Zone Alarm listed in your running processes though so that may not be relevant after all.

If you have never ran a server I am left wondering how that inetinfo.exe got on your drive, let alone why it's running. I don't even have it on my XP Home.

Could it possibly be that you may have installed some update that wasn't really intended for your system and that somehow set you up for this problem? That's a bit far fetched but the best I can come up with.

At least you have it under control after a nice bit of detective work. Enjoy the moment.

The only thing I can think of is that I did setup Remote Desktop Connection on this computer and my laptop while at home. I haven't tested it here since using routers, esp. wireless ones, is against school computer usage policy.

Inetinfo.exe - so you are running IIS?

Inetinfo.exe - and you have ruled out the possibility you might have picked up the code red virus?

I never setup IIS as far as I know. A full Norton and Housecall virus scan was my first reaction, both came up clean and the machine didn't exhibit anyother funny behavior.
