Hello, I reinstalled XP service pack 3 and there isn't a local area connection. Could some one point me in the right direction of a driver or solution. I've googled looking for a driver, but no luck. Thank you.

    Clarification please .....

You made a clean install of XP SP3 with format, or

    You uninstalled/reinstalled SP3?

If the former have you loaded the chipset (motherboard) drivers which would include a NIC driver.

Sorry - still not clear :) It's a question of terminology!

You uninstalled Service Pack 3 through Add/Remove and reinstalled ....

    You did not reinstall XP?

When you look in Device Manager is there a entry under Network Adaptors?

If so what is it and is it flagged with an ! on a yellow triangle?

Sorry, I haven't been able to get back to clarify. I had a virus. So I put the golden XP disc in. I deleted to old OS and then it loaded a fresh XP SP3. Now I have no local area connection. Yes there is an entry in device manager. It's the 1386 one. I also have the yellow ! triangles for Unknown hardware. How do I load the chipset (motherboard) drivers?

Chipset (motherboard) drivers are generally supplied on CD with the motherboard, but if the computer is OEM (Dell - yes generally, HP - ?? ..) maybe not - if we knew your System Details it would be much easier to point you to the mobo manufacturer's site.

Using SIW as indicated in the System Details article will give you the make/model no. of the mobo and you can then go to their site and download the drivers.

I have an Emachine T5020. Could you point me in the right direction to a website that I can download the drivers alone. Not some program to scan to drivers via the internet, seeing as I can't get on the internet with it. That's all I've found. Thanks.
