keyboard supplied with computer had F5 & F6 for brightness control but since has been replaced with a Logitech MX5500 which has no brightness control. There is no brightness control slider under "power options" and no brightness control in vaio care under "display" Pressing F5 or F6 on the touchscreen keyboard also does not control brightness

Hi ihadnohorse. Can you adjust the brightness in the laptops BIOS? Do you have any yellow exclamation marks next to any devices in Device Manager? You should still be able to control the screen brightness in the Power Options in Control Panel.

Nope. Computer is all-in-one, not laptop. "There is no brightness control slider under "power options" "
Am not familiar with adjusting settings in computer's BIOS. Why does SONY make such a simple task not available or like finding a needle in a haystack?

You have no yellow exclamation points in Device Manager correct? If so, were you able to adjust the computers brightness before changing the keyboards?

With the computer's BIOS, on boot up you will have to press a certain key such as F1, F2, F10, or the Delete key. Different manufacturers use different keystrokes to enter their BIOS setup so try pressing one of those keys that I mentioned and you will be able to enter your BIOS setup utility. Once there, look for a setting that controls the display brightness if it exists.

No yellow exclamation marks in DM. I did change brightness level by using the F5 & F6 keys on the SONY keyboard. The FN +F5 & F6 keys on the logitech keyboard open a new tab and open messenger - they're programmed. All BIOS had was password setup, monitoring the fan and exit - very simplistic. I will try searching MS WIN 7 support to see why there is no brightness slider in power options.
