I have a new Sapphire Radeon HD 3650 card 1 GB DDR2 memory trying to install it in a Gateway 5412 desktop Power supply is 300 watts.
    I have a Envison Monitor/TV

When I install the card and upon reboot I get NO Signal..

I have tried the following to fix the problem.

Gone into the BIOS under video set it to external PCI e upon reboot I get NO Signal..

Gone into the BIOS under video set it to Both [May have been Auto can't remember for sure ] upon reboot I get NO Signal..

Gone to Device Manger disable Display Adapters and upon reboot I get NO Signal..

Change display setting to 1024x768 and upon reboot I get NO Signal..

Installed the Drivers for the card

    I tried a different Monitor.

I have removed and reinstalled the card..

I take the card out and I get a signal in all the above..

    Any Ideas or suggestions ??

A few general thoughts - I am not familiar with ATI graphics .....

Does the card require a separate power supply - the manual should tell you and, if so, is it connected to the motherboard?

Might check the power requirement - a 300W PSU is a little small these days.

You may need to reinstall the chipset drivers - the PCIe drivers may not be loaded.

If more than 1 PCIe slot is the card in the right one - generally the slot nearest to the CPU.

Bottom line - the card may be faulty - any chance of trying it in another computer?

    You have done excellent troubleshooting;).

You mention Gateway (you probably need to work by their rules). See if they have an upgrade for your motherboard (BIOS upgrade).

Look at the system requirements for your graphics card, particularly regarding power (PeteC mentioned it).

I expect it is a Gateway computer, look up your model at their website. You might gain some insights to upgrading your system.

Thank You..Yes I saw that ; However the box it comes in says 300 watt as do a number of review sites and sites that sell it .
Just one of many http://www.newegg.com/Product ../Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102726
System Requirements 300 Watt or greater power supply recommended (450 Watt for dual ATI CrossFireX)

I have requested Help from Sapphire Tech support also..

As detailled in the link Arie provided - and again below ....

    http://www.windowsbbs.com/adding_system_specifications.html
    see Bill's comment.
Device Manager > System Devices. Obtain chipset drivers from the mobo manufacturer's web site if not installed (bound to be on an OEM computer - Dell, etc, but we don't have that detail :) ) - SIW, as indicated in the System Details link should identify your mobo.

That Newegg card is NOT the same card you said you have in your opening post. There are several Sapphire 3650 cards - you need to verify which one you have.

Nevertheless, digital electronics NEEDS good, clean, "stable" power and you are living on the edge of minimums, so it is likely your 300w PSU is struggling.

Also, I would trust the site specs as they should be the most current.

Thank you fof Gateway 5412 desktop as mention in original post :)

See above reply to Arie ..What did I leave out besides the motherboard which I 'm trying to find

    Bill
This may be very well true that my 300w PSU is struggling..
    Here is 1 review *
So Far Not Bad at All

white Reviewed By: Bumslayer on 7/9/2009

Tech Level Tech Level: somewhat high - Ownership: less than 1 day
This user purchased this item from Newegg

Pros: Fits into my HP Pavilion a6767c Desktop PC with plenty of room, just had to move a few wires around. No extra power connections needed, only the bus on the board. Fan does not seem particularly loud. Easy to set up, no glitches at all. Improved the PC's overall "score" by a point or more, due to have been using the on-board graphics before. Original 300 watt PSU seems to have no problems with this card after a few stress tests.
Cons: Shipping a bit slower than was hoping for, but what to expect over the 4th of July and free. Manufacturer's box was just thrown on top of packing material with lid taped down over it, but no harm done.
Other Thoughts: Been waiting for an inexpensive upgrade to the on-board graphics, may have found it. Certainly much better than before, but only time will tell if the card holds up. Judging from it's construction and touching the card after the stress tests I would guess it was definitely worth it.

I have seen reviews that ran a card that was a SAPPHIRE 100236-1GVGAL Radeon HD 3650 512 mb on a 300 watt power supply

The link I posted clearly sets out how you obtain and publish your System Details - please see to the left of this post, under my name My System - click on the arrow head.

Posting the detail in a post in a thread only holds good for that thread - start another thread and your System Details are no longer available to those trying to help you.

First, your use of underlining when not needed for emphasis is confusing and unnecessary. Please use normal text.

Second, your link to the review for the PSU does not work - that said, that review was by a common user with less then 1 days experience - hardly a professional review from a professional review site.

Third - your latest Newegg link does NOT show the PSU requirements, but does link to the maker's site, and from there, it takes you to the link I provided, which again, states 400W.

Therefore, I think further discussion on this issue is moot, and frankly, a waste of time until you get a PSU that meets the demands required by your system.

Do NOT cheap out when buying a PSU. I like to use this analogy - would you buy a fancy new Porsche then fill it with off-brand gas from the corner QuickieMart? Well, you might, but would then expect peak performance? A car engine can miss a beat and keep on running - not so with digital electronics.
