Resolved New CD Rom does not play

So, I finally found the driver on HP by searching for the drive model without HP in the search. I was ecstatic. Came up upon the same issue on an older model HP desktop whose support section included the firmware update for this model. Unfortunately, it came up with HP 9996 error, not meeting certain requirements. I read that if I extracted the exe file, I could bypass the HP "must have all HP peripherals" requirement by using setup.exe instead of install.exe. New error, "can't find suitable drive for f/w".

Oh, I then tried the removal of the Upper Filters in that registy key. Restarted, no benefit. Then I put it back.

 

I have tossed this drive and bought a new one. THANKS SO MUCH FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE!!! It was a valiant effort. I chalk it up to unavailable drivers.
