Thank you. I don't see the legacy driver or the Radeon R 4770 in the control panel. The only thing I see that may be relevant is ATI Catalyst Install Manager.

What should I be looking for and how do I uninstall it?

    Thanks Neil and rsinfo,

I uninstalled the 13.9 driver from the control panel and installed the 13.1.
    It made no difference.

I'll uninstall Acronis and see if that does anything.

    Thanks again.

Okay, I have uninstalled Acronis and it hasn't solved the problem either. I don't know what to do next. Is there anything else I should try?

    Thanks.

Here I am again with another problem. I just noticed that I can't run videos now. Could that be related to the graphics card problem?

    Thanks again.

Good news at last! I think I have finally sorted it out.

I ran adwcleaner and it found a Trojan Horse "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main ". I deleted it and then I reinstalled the Realtek Audio driver from the motherboard disc.

I found that getting rid of the worm solved the visual aspect of images and video, and reinstalling the Realtek Audio driver took care of the sound issues.

Once again, thanks for all your help. I won't close this thread out just yet, but I do believe we've got the problem solved:)

If you have a trojan, better to hand it to Broni in "Malware & Virus Removal" section.

Thanks, but I've already taken care of it with adwcleaner and Hitman Pro. My system is clean.

Won't bet on it. Let broni give you a second opinion. If you get a nasty on newly formatted system, it may be deep rooted.

Thanks, that's good advice. If I didn't have my system completely backed up on Acronis, I would certainly get a second opinion from Broni.

The problem is that I feel very privileged to belong to BBS and I don't want to abuse my membership by taking up the time of you and your colleagues unless absolutely necessary.

Since yesterday I've run rootkit scans, Malwarebytes, Rkill and everything has come back clean. I have also run AVG Security Suite and again, it came back clean.

Thanks so much for all your help.

You're not abusing your membership. You may have something nasty embedded in your system. Broni uses special tools and sometimes even writes code for the specific machine he's working on.

Thank you Ell. Should I send Broni a private message or just post my situation on the Windows 7 page?

A brief description then just follow the instructions posted in the Malware Forum. If you are not sure of a procedure do not hesitate to ask broni and he will walk through that procedure. It's not a complicated process so you should not have any problems.
