    Hi.
I have XP 2002 home edition. I need to be able to type Chinese.

I went to the control panel / language and regional settings and tried to install the "East Language" files but it asked me for a CD. I searched all over my house I can’t find it and I don’t really remember ever having it. The Microsoft download center has the files for XP Office but those files do not seem to work with the home edition.

After searching this BBS I noticed a somewhat similar question and it was answered by pointing the person to this link:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/goglobal/bb688177.aspx

But that link seems to be for Vista only and won’t work on XP Home edition.
I am stuck and I do not know how to do this.
So I ask you, how do I install the "Eastern Languages" without the CD? Can you get replacement CDs? (I don’t know anyone I can borrow it from) If anyone has any ideas I would be very appreciative.
    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you're going to need a CD for XP to load the Chinese language fonts. there is an off chance they may be in the I386 Folder but I doub it. I had a similar problem a couple of years ago with Korean language fonts and ended up having to borrow a CD from a coworker (mine was cracked).
