Hello all and welcome to my personal hell where I cannot get one of my favorite video games to run on my PC all of the sudden. I have tried replacing hardware and even reinstalling windows multiple times. I am at a loss currently and have been trying to do research into possible ways to stop this error from occurring. I have been looking at the crash dumps for the game and based on what I've been looking up have to do with the software essentially trying to read from memory which doesn't exist and crashes the game. I have replaced my RAM twice now. Once I paid the second I exchanged for better sticks. I have also replaced by old HDD system drive with a samsung evo 860 1TB SSD. New PSU and graphics card as well. Unless its my mobo I have no clue what to attribute this sudden issue to.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could offer their time to help me out!

Hi BashinBagels, Welcome to Windowsbbs! :)

First off, what video game are you trying to run? Are you installing it from Steam?

Are you running the 32-bit version or 64-bit version of Windows 10? What build of Windows 10 are you using?

Also please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions.

    Thanks.

Motherboard - Gigabyte G270X ultra gaming on most recent bios.
    Processor - i5 7600K not overclocked.
    Memory - 16gb gskill
Video Card - Just received my MSI 2080 and installed it yesterday. =D
Storage Device - Samsung 860 EVO SSD with latest firmware.
Power Supply - 750W EVGA Gold psu
    Monitor - Acer Predator w/ gsync @ 144hz
Operating System - Windows 10 64bit Home Version 10.0.18362 recently updated to 1903

First off thank you for the welcome and the reply! I am trying to play a game called Squad through Steam. I have kinds of dump files if necessary. Sometimes my computer would deadlock and restart when loading into games. Other times the game would crash to the unreal crash software where you can report to the developer.

Also about a little over a month ago I was having issues with random crashes when I was doing anything didn't have to be a game. Went to microcenter and it was diagnosed as bad RAM. Received new RAM and I opted to upgrade while I had it there so I got the PSU and upgraded from my old HDD to my SSD for the system drive. I was still having issues and now I couldn't play the new version of Squad that had released as well as other games crashing for random reasons. I even returned the Crucial RAM they had sold me and put the gskill in.

I have also reinstalled windows using the reset functionality built in twice now. Most recently opted to delete all data from drives as it did not matter to me anyway. Not mentioned before but I also have 2 more samsung SSDs in my system 500gb each and wiped those as well.

The errors seem to be occuring because the game is trying to read from memory that doesn't exist...or at least thats what I've gathered from doing a little research on this error.

Does this issue currently happen with only the Squad game on Steam or does it happen with multiple different games?

Have you tried removing all but one stick of RAM and seeing if the game still cashes?

Other games really don't crash an abnormal amount like Squad. It is just impossible to run it reliably at all. I actually have no tried the one stick of RAM idea since I was pretty sure it wasn't the RAM itself, but I will give it a go right now.

So on first attempt I got a memory management BSOD that seemingly did not produce a dmp file. On reboot the game worked for about 5 minutes which happens occasionally if I delete the games cache data so it starts on default settings. In the applications dmp file I found this
    BUCKET_ID: APPLICATION_FAULT_NULL_CLASS_PTR_READ_NULL_CLASS_PTR_DEREFERENCE_NULL_POINTER_READ_INVALID_POINTER_READ_IN_CALL_SquadGame!src_strerror+25ecfd

    as well as...

EXCEPTION_CODE: (NTSTATUS) 0xc0000005 - The instruction at 0x%p referenced memory at 0x%p. The memory could not be %s.
