    Really?

Last night I was called to a home because NIS was screaming warnings for a trojan it couldn't remove. It was telling him to download this removal tool and everything else, and claimed it couldn't get rid of these dastardly infections.

When I arrived, I saw all these warnings, red circles, etc. I started looking for these horrible infections. All it was? Two incomplete MP3 downloads. It took two seconds to right click on them and "delete ".

I don't care how good you are with a computer, that is the epitomy of uselessness.

Yes, and I've known folks who have used Norton and later Symantec products for years without any problem whatsoever. Like I said... different strokes for different folks. We've done well with McAfee and I've no complaints. Reviews are fine. Granted, it's not at the top of the heap but that doesn't really concern me. It's working for us and that's something your stories relating to the experiences of others can't deny; it's working for us. Anyway... this is starting to turn into a bit of an argument and we've both better ways to use our time. Y'all have a good one. No offense meant and none taken. :)

:) I don't take offense at all. Geez.. No worries there ;)

Every product on the market today has to "work" for someone, otherwise they wouldn't be selling. The point is that in more demanding environments, their shortcomings become evident.

It's just like the WD saga, using an example from hardware. I've heard so many people say "My Caviar works great!! ". Well yeah, it probably does. However, when you know that they have an accepted failure rate of 40%, the lowest rated MTBF in the industry, hate any type of heat or significant volume of read/write transactions, are prone to data corruption, have the lowest success rate (15%) of any drive recovery in the business and as an authorized WD dealer you lost 30% of your drives in the first year.... "My Caviar works GREAT!!!" doesn't cut it anymore.

Same thing goes with software. :)
