Anyone know if the "My Passport" portable HD is compatabile with a
    true 64 bit vista system?

My system is both 32/64 bit and i have no problem with my passport. But,
my friend has a true 64-bit system only and it appeart to be not
    compatable.

    Thanks,
    savagcl

My specs were there, under "System Specifications" but it was checked as
    "NO ".
I changed the selection to "Yes ".

Will have to check the type of MB and will add it when i find out.

Been so long i forgot it was there.

    Thanks,
    savagcl

    Admin,

    In system specs -
My system is both 32 and 64 bit OS - Is there a preference as to which
    should be checked?

Its my buddy's system that is pure 64 bit OS and I dont know his system
    specs.

Sorry bout that but my system display seems to be working now.
I picked up the SIW program and will run it when i get home and then
    update the MB.

    thanks for the heads up,
    savagcl

    Are you dual booting?

    No dual booting.

My system was bought as a 32/64 bit system.
I have applications under both "Program Files" and "Program
Files (x86)" and another folder named "Program Data ".

My friend has a true 64-bit system and is kinda limited as
    to applications he can run.

    thanks,
    savagcl

OK, to get this straight... your operating system is either 32-bit or 64-bit.

From your description it sure sounds like yours is 64-bit, as that's the only OS that will have the Program Files (x86) directory.

So you have a 'true' 64-bit system, nothing else. There is no such thing as a "32/64 bit system ".

64-bit Windows Operating System can run 32-bit programs just fine (it uses an emulator), just as Windows 95/98 was able to still run 16-bit (Windows 3.x) programs.

WD (the maker of the "My Passport" drive) lists this for System compatibility:

Thank you, Arie for both the clarification of what I'm running (was never
a 100% sure) and Passport info.
    I'll pass it on.

Well, you can quickly see it by opening the System control panel applet (type System in Vista's Start Search box, and the System control panel applet will be listed.

Under the System heading it will list System type:
