Resolved "My Computer" Opens Slow in Windows Explorer

Eureka. The problem has gone away. Just noticed this morning that My Computer is opening normally. Don't have a clue what did it but I accept success in most any form. So each one who offered up possible fixes, thanks, and feel free to take credit for fixing the problem.

Your post made me think back a bit and I have come up with a possibility. I have spent a lot of time on WindowsBBS over the past 10 years or so. In that time I have gained enough confidence in getting other folks here to get me out of jams that I download and try a lot of the free programs that some of the experts here use.

My Start menu had gotten so full I did a review of my installed software via the Add/Remove in Control Panel several days ago. I probably uninstalled 15 or 20 pieces of software that I never use. It could be that one of those was causing the problem. I will try to be alert in the future and note when I install a piece of software so any subsequent changes could be pinned down.
