    Hi,

    @ Noahdfear:
I have a very similar problem. Should I start a new thread and post my minidump? (see below)
    Thanks! :)

    @ Captinsweb:
I am having a very similar problem, I'm on XP sp3. It all started with "ms-antispy 2009.exe ", I also found other spyware on my computer from one file a friend downloaded and installed (on my previously clean system :( ).

Anyway, I am getting google and other site hijacking, along with STOP error 0x0000008E after every boot (about 2 min after desktop loads). That error is a hardware or software error. In my case it's a software error (the spyware) as my system as passes Memtest86 and all other diagnosis apps I've run (from a PE disk). I think you too may have the same/similar issue. What is your STOP error message?

I built a new UBCD4WIN PE disk with all current spyware/anti-virus program definitions updated I found many spyware, etc and removed all I found. I was next going to try a Repair Install with my install disk.

But I first want to read my minidump file for indications of spyware/etcx. I found another guy who had a spyware problem which caused similar symptoms. He used his minidump to identify the problem and he found a nice fix: http://icrontic.com/forum/showthread.php?t=50966

I have read about combofix, sounds really powerful.

    Thanks to both of you
