Resolved Movie Maker Basics

    Thanks but it doesn't do me any good when it crashes as soon as I try to open the file.

    I'm out of ideas at the moment other than trying a different ripper. I've never heard of an application causing this much trouble with an operating system unless some of the system files are corrupt, but anything can happen in the world of computing I guess.

    DVD Fab works well, but I haven't tried the newer versions as I prefer the smaller version 4.

    I've made a rather interesting discovery. It is my guess that Movie Maker does not understand how to process standard media files other than 'wmv' and crashes. When I converted the DVD to 'wmv' it stopped crashing and I could work on the file. It now looks like a clear Movie Maker bug.

    This thread can be marked resolved. Interesting that that option is no longer available and the only one showing up is unsolved. Looks like a forum bug to not have both.

    I marked your thread Resolved an hour and a half before you posted.. Thus the only option was to change it back to Unsolved;)
