    Hello,
    I just got a computer that has a Mobile Hard Drive Rack. It is connected as slave on IDE1, And recognized. Computer has a 20GB HDD. WIN.XP Pro is the OS. with 9GB in use. How would I copy the working HDD to a HDD on the mobile rack? The HDD I have to use, is an 80GB. It has an old Win.98se OS on it. Please be specific, as I do not want to lose this data. And I am not real proficent in computer operations.
    Thanking all, for you'r great help.

    You'll need something like Ghost or Drive Image to "clone" the old drive to the new.

    Do I need to format the 80GB HDD before cloning the new 20GB to it?

    If You do a full format of the harddisk, it gets checked and verified to work OK but it isn't necessary. Cloning will do two things;

    - ammend the Master File Table to the size of the new harddisk (the File Allocation Table of the previous file system will be destroyed which actually equals a quick format)

    - transfer all written contents to the new harddisk
