    I suddenly have a problem with internet shortcuts on my desktop.

    All other shortcuts to files or programs on my hdd are working fine.

    I have no shortcut tab in the properties of .url shortcuts therefor I can't change the icon for it. The shortcut works fine in that it opens my Firefox and goes to the site.

    I also have a tab missing in "folder options" called file types.

    Make suggestions please?

    Mine are half .URL files and the other half are .INK files. The INK files I can change.

    Beats the heck out of why there is a difference...I just drag from the broswer to the desktop.

    "File Types" are no longer found under their tab in Folder Options.

    Click Here for information on how to find Vista's version and well as other information about editing file types in Vista you might find useful.

    Do you have a Web Document tab with a Change Icon button?

    @Miz
    thanks for the link

    @Steve
    I have General, Security, and Details.
    The shortcut tab was there before because I had changed icons on some of the shortcuts. A couple days ago the icons changed to mozilla generic.
    I think I will try with IE and see if it is the same. This could have happened about the time I accepted a windows update to change to IE8.

    More later....

    I am now beginning to see why folks don't like Vista.

    I changed to IE and made it default and instantly the icons changed back to what I had made them. Also I have a Web document tab now.

    I changed back to FF as default and all is OK now.

    Thanks for your help....
    Aren't computers fun?
