Microsoft Photo Editor File reading error

When I try to open a jpg file in Photo Editor I receive an error message that reads "Error reading file" with no other options or instructions. How can I fix this? Thank you.

 

I have had this same problem. It happens to me only when trying to open .jpg files created by a particular application (Catia). Apparently these files are somehow "different" from other .jpg files and Photo Editor has a problem with them. The only solution I've found is to open them with some other image program (I use PhotoPlus). Irfanview might work as well but I don't recall if I ever tried it.
