Solved lots of pop up in windows xp, lots of infection not sure what kind yet

    I'm sure the AOL stuff running is slowing things down, and Windows Update downloading can put quite a load on your bandwidth.

    All Java needs to be uninstalled and the lateset version installed too.

    Unless Viewpoint is being used, it's one of those less desireable apps too. Gets installed alongside AIM usually.

    You still have all the HijackThis backups too. Recommend you dump those.

    If you're satisfied it's running well enough, clear the System Restore points and make sure a new one gets set.

    I may be able to dump the aol (probably not aim) I know they were using aol broadband but have changed to att (fomerly known as bell south). Not sure aobut the viewpoint, will have to ask about that as well. Do you know if any of the problems that were on this computer would have caused the printer to ignore print jobs??

    Can't say for certainty about the print jobs, but it sounds unlikely. If having problems with that, best recommendation is to uninstall the printer and accompanying software, then re-install and check for updated drivers.

    I thought maybe I would get lucky and not have to go through all that, but oh well again wishful thinking.:rolleyes:

    Maybe just start with ckecking for updated drivers ;)

    yes, I think unless something else comes up we can mark this one sucessful and resolved. Thanks again for you vast knowledge as well as time and patience with me. I feel like another one bites the dust should be playing in the background, lol:)
