HI all, I am losing HD space!!!

I am using Windows XP SP3, I have 40gb HDD. My current free hd space is under 500mb and also gets less and less when xp is updating.

I have uninstalled any software i dont use and I used clean up disk tool, this seems to have no affect.

    Can anyone help??

Hi toonarmy, welcome to WindowsBBS (how's Newcastle United doing nowadays :))

Seriously, 40GB is considered very small nowadays, you could easily quadruple (or even 10 fold) increase the storage capacity for £40/50. A small expense but it will make your life a lot easier...

Failing that, you'll have to back up some of your data onto other media. eg, do you have music files, videos that don't actually have to be stored on the system?

We encourage all members to enter their system details, it could help resolving this and any future issues you may have.

    thanks for the welcome Wildfire.

the specs I gave was not my computer but my nan's.

I have an HP Quad core laptop but im not too happy with it.

Now, there is no music, videos or other data that can take so much storage other than hdd problems.

    thanks Wildfire.

P.S. Newcastle United are just fine!!!!! I Hope. LOL

    Run Windows XP's Disk Cleanup.

From the Start Menu select All Programs > Accessories > System Tools and click Disk Cleanup.

The only thing I would not select is Compress old files.
