Actually you can block the FlashPlayer ads. I do it all the time. AdBlockPlus is added to the items you can use to customize the tool bar. Right click on the tool bar and select customize. Drag the AdBlockPlus icon to some spot on the tool bar and close the customize window. Click on the icon and select OpenBlockableItems. Look for files having a .swf extension. These are FlashPlayer files.

It looks good, and I just tried it, but it didn't score big w/ me. Didn't see any speed difference, and in some ways seems a bit slower.

You can change the number of connections per server in the user preferences. I have used Opera for about 8 years now and have found nothing (for my use) that compares.

Chas, I have just installed Adblock plus and it's working fine blocking
    every add.

    Q. How long have you had your version installed?

The reason being is I had it installed before when FF 3.6 just came out and I had to right click to add the filter. I uninstalled it and noticed on FF that Adblock Plus was taking off for a while, (probably for maintenence)
Now it's back on and seems to be working even better. Even blocking every add
on this site and every other site that I visit, which it would not do before. So maybe if you reinstall it then you might get some joy.

    Good luck

That's something most people, including myself, have never heard of.
What affect does this have here on this site? I ask because I remember you changing the site so ads no longer show on members' posts.

Ads do still show, although less ads for members than for visitors. The effect is as described in the article.
