I'm not familiar with that BootLog program either; however, to an unfamiliar eye it appears that your system keeps choking on a second windows installation - what's with the Windows installation on G: ? Maybe you want to tell us a little more about your system ..........

As a minimum, I'd appreciate knowing what you have for drives and how you are partitioned. A little history would be helpful too - there's something here you haven't told us about.

    ;)

Can anyone make sense out of this ??

    I see Svchost twice.

I also see two different Windows folders.

Tend to go along along with Rockster2U on this one.

    BillyBob

    PS.
And if by any chance two different version are involved OUCH!!

Oh! Please forgive me! It's a normal one installed XP. There seems to be a problem with how the log is saved. My G is a virtual drive. At the beginning of each section in the log there is a reference to G:. I think this is just an error in how the log is saved.

These two entries in the might be what you want to concentrate on. you say the delay is when windows is at the desktop. These two are at the end of the log. The eighth and ninth ones from the end.

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\drmkaud.sys
    13.12.2007 09:49:08.105
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRIVERS\mrxdav.sys
    13.12.2007 09:51:38.993

There's 2 minutes and 30 seconds between the two. I haven't got time to find out what those drivers are now. Maybe later. It's a place for you to start anyway.

    Hello Kry

Likely your computer is trying to connect to a shared device (usually a drive or printer)

As Zander pointed out the delay is either

    (a) between drmkaud.sys and mrxdav.sys drivers.
    (b) or after mrxdav.sys

Since drmkaud.sys is the Microsoft Digital rights management it is highly unlikely to cause an issue with "booting" even if DRM really has a

    problem.

But mrxdav.sys is the WebDAV Mini-Redirector and could cause this issue.

    See this:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/832143

    Additionally do the following.

    1. if this is a stand alone computer (not on a network and sharing files, folders or printers)

My network places-Local area connection. Rt clk Local area connection and uncheck (do not uninstall) File and printer sharing. Reboot after

    doing the next steps.

    2. Start-Run type Services.msc clk OK in services find DNS Client and stop and disable it.

    3. Also while in services stop and disable Web Client (unless you are a Web developer not needed).

So do this and get back to us!

    Forgot to mention.

The link above is not exactly your symptoms but I would apply the fix.

Tho the KB says a "stop error" or a "restart" as the symptoms it is possible that other factors including MS fixes that come thu Win Update could help maintain OS stability without the stop or reboot. Hence the long delay while trying and retrying this driver then finally givving up and proceeding.

Especially since the KB is date in August. There have been many updates since then!

This is the first install and only install of XP on this system since I built it. I know how it looks and you must assume I'm an idiot but there is no other install and certainly not on G: which is a Virtual DVD-ROM.

The G: references appear at the beginning of each section.

For example there are two references to winlogon.exe. These are both supposedly pointing to drive G:.

If it was an error then somehow windows would be loging in without winlogon.exe.

I really believe that there is just an error with how the program records the log.

Sorry I did not make it clear you can do the other steps anyway without the KB!

    Are you on a network?

The services can be reversed if they make no diff so go ahead and do them and get back as I will be away for a while after about 30 mininutes from now.

And just to cover some more bases

    Do these also before reboot.

    From Command prompt
    type
    ipconfig /flushdns
    then
    ipconfig /registerdns
    then
    netsh interface ip delete arpcache
    then
    nbtstat -RR
    NOTE the caps RR

    OK
Appearently no help as you did not say either way.

Recheck enable the File and printer sharing but the DNS and Web Client you can leave off!

As others have pointed out there is an issue with the addressing of certain windows files on another drive (G:).

The delay does not appear to come from this, but do you have a g: drive.

OR has a drive been reassigned using disk management?

Lets get a detailed look at your OS.

    Download http://www.runscanner.net/why-runscanner.aspx

    Run it select Expert mode
    then Full Scan
    then Start scan

    Allow it time to run

after it finishes click Save text.log file
Copy the text and paste it back here.

I have been delayed so will be available for another hour.

There is a G: drive but it is a Virtual DVD-Rom drive. I believe that BootXP makes an error in the log, so at the beginning of each section it syas G: but really means C:

    AH so!!!!!

    This could be the problem!

There are many Virt CD programs so see if this one has an option to disable now for testing purposes.

Or since it is a Virt Cd if you can put back what is there now then erase the contents.

The below info will also help

Open command prompt copy then paste the following 2 lines to the prompt

    %SystemRoot%\system32\cmd.exe /c %windir%\system32\sc query type= driver > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\DvrQuery.txt
    set > "%USERPROFILE% "\Desktop\Environment.txt

Hit enter once before closing command prompt.

Now on desktop will be 2 files DvrQuery.txt and Environment.txt copy and paste both of these back to us.

I don't think BootXP is changing anything!

I bet dollars to donuts that when you go to browse the Virtual DVD that you will find a copy of a Windows folder there.

Perhaps a backup or even from an older XP that was erased!!!

    I want my donuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
