Thanks Pete. Sorry about my confusion. I deleted the partition a short time ago with Partition Magic and Windows is now loading as it did the first time I attempted this process. I will keep you informed and keeping my fingers crossed that the drive letters now come out correctly.

When I reloaded WIN XP after deleting the partition with PM, everything went well. I reattached 2nd HD afterward and we were back to square 1.
I am having problems getting a network printer to work, which worked before I replaced the HD. Is it possible that a firewall can prevent it from working?
I'm also having problems setting up a shared file on the network which I succeeded in doing before I upgraded to SP2. Anyone have any good references on how to get these things to work again?
Again, thank you for all your help.

Glad to hear that you have the drive up and running and correctly designated :)

My experience of networking is very limited - set up a home network for the first time a few weeks ago which is working well, so far, but I am not in a position to advise with confidence:)
Have you loaded the printer drivers to the new drive?

A couple of references which may help on the Networking issue - if not start a thread in the Networking forum ....

Set up your computer for home networking
