    Bob,

Yes, I do have NoScript installed. However, the extension is listed as one of the
Top 10 Firefox extensions to avoid by ComputerWorld

And if you're interested: 20 must-have Firefox extensions

I am quite puzzled by a default setting being change without user permission, or manually changing the setting. It could be an extension, maybe NoScript, but I certainly have never encountered what you describe with NoScript. I have doubts...

Do you also have AdBlock installed? I have seen mention of this extension interfering with website content.

    Bob,

A couple more possibilities, which I found at MozillaZine:

    1. McAfee has been known to install a user.js file into Firefox to turn off the Firefox popup blocker so that the user is using the McAfee popup blocker part of their security suite. It is possible that something like a web accelerator program or extension could have changed that pref thru a user.js file, for example.

    2. An extension could've done it. Or anything else on his system outside Firefox too. The Firefox preferences can be controlled using the User.js file.

So there is no pat answer. Did you create a user.js file, and if so, is there an image setting in the file that could overwrite prefs.js?

    How about McAfee?
