    I have a windows live email address (i.e. user@live.co.uk)

I was receiving my mail through ms outlook 2007, but now I don't have outlook and want to use Outlook Express.

Could anyone please help me to configure OE for this mail account. I have searched with google and downloaded Freepops, but I am having difficulty with it.
    Thank you

Regarding the above I have found the correct settings for anyone with an live.mail account using Outlook Express.
    1. Go to Open Outlook Express>Tools>Accounts>Mail. Click the tab "ADD ".
    2. Enter your display name, then NEXT
    3. Enter Email address, then NEXT
    4. a. set drop-down box to pop3
    b. for incoming mail enter "pop3.live.com2
    c. for outgoing mail enter smtp.live.com
    click NEXT
    5. Under "internet mail logon "
In 'account name enter your email address
    enter password in next box
Ignore the SPA box below then NEXT
    6. Congratulations box, but not finished yet!
    7. Go to Tools>Accounts you will see your pop3 mail account, highlight it and click 'properties.
    8. Click the Advanced tab
    8. Make sure that under Server Port numbers the outgoing server is set at 25 and the incoming pop3 set at 995. Tick the boxes saying 'This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
That should have it up and running.

These are the settings I use in Outlook Express. They are a bit different from above reply.

    Under Servers tab:
    Incoming mail (pop3); pop3.live.com
    Outgoing mail (smtp); smtp.live.com
Your Outgoing Mail Server requires authentication [should be checked], under the Settings button, should be 'same as incoming' selected.

    Under Advanced tab:
    Server Port Numbers;
    Outgoing SMTP 587
    Incoming POP3 995
    Both require SSL connections.

Thanks Mark, I'm not sure why the port settings are different, mine set themselves automatically when I put in the correct pop3 and SMTP data, but as you say both require SSL.
