Hi again, first time on here for ages,
I cannot use my Windows Live Mail 2011 any more because opening mail on there causes it to close due to windows finding an error and then searching for a solution and then every time it closes. Hence I now have mail I cannot read.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I have an i7 930 processor and an ASUS P6X58D-E motherboard.
Up until recently my computer was very fast but now web pages load like a snail. I lost my sleep mode too but after putting that problem on another forum someone pointed out it was a SP1 issue with Windows 7 64 bit systems and I was provided with a Hot-fix link to solve it, which it did.
I now have this Windows Live error which shows up in my Event Log as an unknown error and however much I scan with my avast anti virus and Spybot S & D and Malware-bytes, it finds nothing!
My internet connection has always ran at about 8mb/sec and I have always used a Netgear DG834N Modem/router on ADSL Broadband.
Does anyone else have this slow internet problem and Windows Live that will not stay open.
I have ran out of ideas. I have tried disabling my avast and Spybot Tea Timer but no difference there.
I am suspecting it is the SP1 and it was the culprit for losing my Sleep Mode.
My problem started on the 21st March 2011 according to my Event Log.
    Can anyone help please?

    Try the repair option.

Go to Control Panel>Programs and Features. In that list, scroll down to Windows Live Essentials and click once on it. In the window that opens, choose the repair option.

Live Mial 2011 keeps closing due to an eeror

Thank you for your reply Miz. I tried what you have just suggested last night and it made no difference at all.
What I have noticed tonight is that if I go back to letters before 25.3.11. there is no problem and it was like this before I tried the Repair last night.
Any mail after 25.3.11. immediately makes Windows search for a solution to an error and then it closes Live Mail down and reopens it now. It was just closing before.
By the way I did just try the Repair again in Control panel but nothing changed, although it says the Repair was successful each time.

You can try moving all messages dated after 25.3.11 to another folder for safekeeping, then seeing if WLM will open as it should.

If that works, you can try moving messages back to their original location, opening WLM after each to identify which is causing the problem.

If there are messages in the group to be moved that you do not want to lose, I suggest you copy them to the new location, then delete them from the old once they are safely copied. That way if there are any problems during the process, you'll still have the original to try copying again.

The messages should be found at C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Live Mail in a folder identified by your email account's name followed by your email address name in parentheses.

Live Mail keeps closing due to an error

Hi again Miz and thank you for your last suggestion.
I found the location after following your post and I can see how you can isolate mails that are "playing up" by moving them to a folder. I liked this idea and planned on doing this today, however I have just found out that all mail from the 26th March 2010 from my friends on Facebook to this e-mail account are affected in the same way.
Strangely enough the mail from my applications on Facebook are not affecting my Live Mail by closing it down. I would have thought my Facebook had a virus/malware but surely if this was the case all mails from there would cause this problem to occur?
I can't see a way of solving this one, can you Miz? Your last method would have worked if it was just on those isolated mails, not all of the mail coming in as from the 25th March 2011.
    Thank you.

I'd suspect that the messages giving you the problems are not legit.

I don't use Facebook but I have read about bogus emails being sent from user's accounts although I don't recall the details about how it's done.

Ask a friend or two on Facebook to email you and see if those messages can be accessed.

If so, I'd just delete the ones giving you the problem and see if that solves it.

Another option is to read this post, follow the instructions and see if the experts in the Malware and Virus Removal forum find anything suspicious.

    Live Mail keeps restarting

Thank you for your reply Miz.
The messages I am now opening are legit from friends of mine but they are redirected from Facebook.
I have received bogus mails from Facebook in the past but I never open the links in them now that I am more aware of the dangers. I have been on Facebook for nearly 5 years now and have only ever got 2 viruses from there in all that time. My avast anti-virus finds any viruses instantly and deletes them or I move to chest.
However I am pretty sure that Facebook is to blame for this problem and I also believe it isn't a virus that can be picked up by avast, Malwarebytes or Spybot S & D. I use all of these regularly
I have recently been receiving e-mails from people on Facebook that haven't been aware that they have been sent from their accounts, they are advertising e-mails. If such a mail is the last one to arrive in your inbox then in my Live Mail it is shown in the preview pane, so it has opened, without you wanting it to.
I realize now that the way to stop this is to have the preview pane switched off.
I have read the section on posting on the Malware and Virus Removal section of this forum from the link you sent me and I have just finished doing all the steps that are listed. I am going to post these on that section now.
Thank you for your help.. I will let you know how I get on.

    Error in Windows Live Mail

I have stopped any more bogus mail coming into my Windows Live Mail account by firstly changing my password to this account and secondly redirecting all my Facebook mail to a new GMail account.
I now receive no bogus mail even though friends that were sending it unkowingly are still contacting me.
The malware and virus section of this forum is highly recommended, you just do exactly as they tell you and post back as quick as possible with your scan results. They found that my system was free of anything malicious, so the problem was just with bogus Facebook mail.
The only thing I did not figure out was how to get rid of the mail in my Windows Live Mail inbox that shut it down every time I click on them and that is the same even opening them in their source folder.
Has anyone else any ideas how to rewmove this mail?
    Thank you again.
