I have a folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download that's getting ever larger. I think they're orphans from old Win7 updates. Any reason not to delete 'em? Thnx.

    Define "large ".

I checked mine, and even though I only have a small system drive (by todays standards) - 120GB, that folder is only 289MB ( < 0.24%).

The 'best practice' is to never touch the folder.

There is no reason (on a properly functioning system) to delete the contents of this folder.

The %windir%\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder is automatically maintained by the WUAgent.

Arie....thanks, that's probably the best approach. I'm just a neatnik, odds and bits bother me. I'll leave it be. Cheers.......
