    Hi everyone,

I am buying a laptop for my son who is about to turn 13 and I really want the best for my money as anyone would. I am torn between three different ones, that are all around the £250 mark and are all new. Its not the brand or design I am worried about but what is actually inside. If someone would not mind looking these over and just giving an opinion and perhaps explain why one is better than the rest I would be most grateful.
    Many thanks

He is not into PC games as he has a ps3, xbox 360 and an iphone(I had a master system 2 when I was 15 and thought I was privileged lol). How times change.
I will probably nick it for the odd game of age of empires 2 though.
Just general internet use and downloading music or watching the odd film etc.
    Thanks

The Acer isn't bad and has a large HD. What is the difference in price where you are located?

I vote for the Acer E1-570. Looked over the specs seems like a nice machine.

The difference is only £20, all the machines I listed though were online prices.

Hello again, sorry to be a pest. But I was just about to order the laptop and was sent a link for a Dell that is on sale

    Core i3 4010U 1.7 GHz
    4GB RAM
    500GB hard drive
    DVD burner
    15.6" or 17.3" screen
    WiFi 802.11n
    USB 3 (x2)
    HDMI

Now I realise that the hard drive is not as big but I just wondered out of the Acer and this one what woujkd be your personal choice?
    Thanks again

I doubt that you would be disappointed with either, but note the differences in the no. of USB ports if you feel that is relevant and the Dell appears from your spec to be on offer with a larger screen.

    Hi everyone,

Jut popping back to say thanks, I went with the acer as advised and it is a pretty quick machine. I know many of you probably have super fast machines as most of you know what you are doing and how to add ram(if thats what makes it faster), but for the average computer user this is a good laptop.
Once again thanks for all your help.

@lj50 -it was an, Dell Inspiron 15 4th Gen Core i3
