    Hi,
I have a new laptop which I bought 3 weeks ago and one of the automatic updates it has done included installing kb2454826. Since then Windows Live Mail stops responding 10 - 20 secs after opening and a quick search on Google shows that this is comman and the update is to blame. The general advice is to uninstall it again which indeed allowed Mail to work but I have lost all images on the internet viewing with IE9, even the Google logo let alone BBC news or Facebook. In Internet Options, Show Pictures is still checked. I used System Restore and it all went back to as before.
There is a version 2 of this update but before going for that I thought I'd ask if anyone had sucessfully got round this issue as many posts on other sites suggest that it makes no difference.

I'm using Internet Explorer 9, 64 bit. As I said, when I uninstall the update I lose all picures on the internet so should I still do it?

No idea. Never heard of it, and I don't even have this update on my Windows 7 x64 box... I hardly ever run IE 9 in 64-bit mode, it's not compatible enough.

Seeing that you're a "beginner" I suggest you stick with running the 32-bit version of IE.

I downloaded the 64 bit version because I have a 64 bit machine, isn't that correct?

The download was automatic as a windows update, published on 2/5/2011 according to the Microsoft site so would have thought everyone got it.

OK... if you just downloaded/installed the 64-bit version I'm sure you're only using the 32-bit version :)

I know, confusing... you have to specifically start the 64-bit version. Microsoft kind of hides the 64-bit version (with reason).

Since you didn't enter your OS in your System Details, I'm not sure.

    I would uninstall it.

I have Windows 7, up-to-date, and I don't have this update. And yes, I'm running IE9 (but no, not WLM)

I noticed that there were two optional updates available that weren't installed automatically, one of which was for the Intel HD graphics and the other for Windows 7 (KB2488113). After I installed these my problem seems to have disappeared! WLM is fine and I can see pictures on IE9.
