I PM'ed you my response but yes you select the items and remove them using the red X in the Autoruns toolbar.

Thanks. The losing the computer to a background process has stopped. And it is doing all things quicker - I suppose due to fewer apps running at start up and in the background.

Whereas uninstalling Java seemed to be a big part of the fix, I' wondering now just what is the value of Java? I'll read up on that one, and thanks again for the help.

Whoops! My apologies - I missed the services instruction. I'll go back and read through it all again.

Do you mean a screen shot captured from a Windows screen, or from the Autoruns services tab?

No I need a screenshot from the System Configuration window. We are done with Autoruns.

    This is what I need.

    Ask and ye shall receive…

What I did was open the utility from a command prompt and then use the snipping tool to capture the jpegs.

I scrolled each section so that the service just “peeping” at the bottom appears at the top of the next screen shot.

Thanks, and I’ll look forward to your take on this.

Click Start< type Services in the Start search box and hit enter to open the Services window. After the services window opens double click on each service that I list below and set the startup type to Disabled:

    Adobe Acrobat Update Service
    Adobe Flash Player Update Service
    Adobe Genuine Software Integration
    Intel Content Protection
    D-Link Wireless Service
    NitroPDFReader
    Protexis Licensing V2

After you disable those services please follow step #29 in my guide which will instruct you to run Delfix. Please run that tool and post the requested log in your next reply.

Buzzardy old refurb that it is, the computer is all the same running amazing. This has been the most complex issue I've had to deal with so I really appreciate the help.

So yes, I would mark this one resolved.

    Thanks again!
