What does the owner's manual say?

Electronics don't keep getting hotter and hotter the longer they are plugged in. They reach a certain temperature then sit there at that temperature until exterior variables change. Those exterior variables include ambient (room) temperatures, demands by the connected devices, and perhaps input voltages. As the variables increase and decrease, the operating temperature of the device will too. As long as nothing exceeds design capabilities, the device should perform as expected.

The quick installation guide says nothing about my question.

How long have you had it?

I would just keep using it till it stops working and not worry about heat... It's not like it has any moving parts.

Then assume there are no restrictions.

I agree with Steve, don't worry about heat (assuming it is not wrapped in a blanket or next to a source of heat, and it has free space around it for ventilation).

My friend, who did not need it anymore, gave it to me in April.
I would take your advice, Bill and Steve R Jones.
