Solved Is malware making IE to stop working?

Broni, I worked with you for several days recently in a thread about Internet Explorer not opening in my wife's laptop. We got the laptop clean of malware, but IE still wouldn't open and I opened another thread in the Windows 7 forum. Now retiredlearner there has raised the question of whether all the clean-up work we did was done in Safe Mode or not. Do you recall? Apparently that question may make a difference in getting the original problem fixed. Your opinion?

The thread I worked in with you got marked Solved, and I felt I'd better open a new one so you'd notice it. Sorry if that's counter to BBS policy.
