Resolved Is it possible to remove the arrow from Desktop shortcut icons?

Windows 7, 64 bit, monitor screen display desktop icons with a curved arrow. Can the arrow be removed, showing only the software title name on the icon. The arrow could be removed in earlier versions of MS Windows.

 

Look up FxVisor (either32 or 64 depending on your OS). It's free and it fixes it.

Another choice, the one I've used to solve the issue you raise, is Ultimate Windows Tweaker. It's free and allows lots and lots of configuration possibilities as well as system info.

 

Ski52, thank you for response. I am unable to find a download for FxVisor suitable Windows 7 64bit. All appear to suit MS Vista 32bit.

 

Open command prompt with administrator rights type this line statement REG ADD "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Icons" /v 29 /d %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,50 /f This will work on 64bit. I used it on my HP Laptop which is 64bit.
