I recently tried to remove ask.com and was directed to a program called SpyHunter. When I ran its scan, several programs were pegged as malware, but I didn't see ask.com. At the end of the scan, I was asked to register SpyHunter to the tune of $39. The ask.com program is annoying and substandard. How can I get rid of it? Is $$$ the only answer?

Hi, Have you recently installed Software? Ask browser is installed with quite a bit of software if you don't read and uncheck what is going to be installed.
I got it a few months back, and it can be removed. I'll have to put the thinking cap on to remember what I did. Neil.

ps. A Google helped: How to remove Ask.com
    http://asia.cnet.com/how-to-remove-oracle-javas-ask-toolbar-62221706.htm

    Control Panel > Add & Remove Programs > Ask.......anything > Delete
It comes with Java and I think Adobe. Neil.

Hi Peg. Ask.com is considered an unwanted software program. Its not dangerous but its just a useless program that doesn't do you any good having it installed.

As Neil stated above, look in Add/Remove programs and remove the program if its listed there. If you still have the program installed on your machine and you can't figure out how to remove it then let us know.
