I upgraded to Window 10 and now find that iPlayer opens but fails to open/play TV shows. I presume FlashPlayer is the cause. Clicking a show, produces a Black Screen.

Have you checked that it is installed and set as Default? Start > Settings > System > Device Defaults.

Did you wait for Apps and Features to Populate?

You'll probably be looking at changing the Video player. You could go to Start > Settings > System > Default apps, then on the right side scroll down and select Set default by app.

Video player VLC is working satisfactory with files save in HD. With iPlayer it requires the flashplayer to operate iplayer. At present opening a TV show produces a black window within iplayer. Flashplayer is not shown in Win Default apps.

No, flash is not a player, it is a browser plugin. I have no experience with the BBC iPlayer.

Adobe Flash player is part of Edge browser and can be turned on or off. To see if Adobe Flash is installed on your comp, have a look in RIGHT click Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features.

Checking program installed in the computer Adobe Flash Player is listed. AFP apparently fails to operate in iPlayer. It is required to open any video files in bbc.co.uk.

Neil thanks for response. Could not find the reference to Adobe Flash player. Could it have anything to do with Java? Not installed. iPlayer was working when OS was installed as Win 7 Premium. Bobby.

Tried to re-install a copy of Flash Player, caption shows that my version IE has a copy of FP installed within it. Caption has come up asking if I wanted Adobe FP to be installed. Clicked OK, does iPlayer now work, not likely!!

Neil, read all instructions, not find "Tools" other than "Options" in IE 11. Computer says that Flash Player is installed. Also that FP is part of Windows 10 and that FP not required to be installed, Using Edge, iPlayer remains a black view screen. Tried BBC.co.uk/html5, this plays iPlayer at times. It appears that Active X should be deactivated, unable to find this.

States that Flash Player v.22.0.0. is installed. I find Windows 10 is at present hard to follow, especially at boot up as it requires a password, computer has never used Password or have I ever entered one. I blame Outlook.com for this as it appears Outlook entered password and only sheer luck guessed password. Hoping there is a procedure to reverse, as now requires a 22 letters to access entry.

Bobby, I see by your own admission you are not reading ALL the info in links that are Posted for your help. We try and provide info for you to read through thoroughly and disseminate what is needed for your possible fix. In the Flash Player Help when you scroll to the bottom - there is an active link to Flash Player issues with W8.
If you click on that it should take you to a section dealing with Disabling ActiveX Filtering. This was a suggested problem fix by iPlayer. Please read and try these fixes first before telling us nothing worked.
I spend quite a bit of time researching from user/member description of a problem and feel let down when the info has not been followed or tried. ;) Neil.

Neil, my computer this morning failed to work beyond the Password and I set out for a recovery. This did clear fault but at a price, all non-MS software was uninstalled and put in Removed Apps. One good thing, iPlayer is back and functioning. After reading above topics, I dread the 1607 update. Bobby.

Good to see your back running OK. I have 1607 running trouble free on 4 drives  and even my wife is handling the jump from W8.1 to W10. Updated her from XP to W8.1 so she's really taken the big leaps. I have renewed all our hardware in the last 2½ to 3 years and that's probably why things have run so smoothly. :D Neil.

Neil, not exactly, each time that I switch computer on, at some point an error will arise, just to make computing life frustrating. I am really alarmed, as MS can change our settings without warning or permission. Yesterday as an example a recovery was needed to put computer working, well result is now all my programs where put in a folder, kindly marked by MS as "Removed Apps ", yes required all to be manually re-installed, thanks MS. How many of the [ON OFF] settings actually work? Is MS "monopoly" or "dictator" one or both? little wonder many computer users, refuse to upgrade from XP or Win 7. It certainly appears one has to purchase a new computer every two years, excellent for the manufacturer, who must thank MS for its constant meddling. Checking updates regularly, shows 1607 is not present. Interesting as to method MS decides which computers are upgraded to 1607. Mentioning, I do on each time that I post a new Topic of my appreciation of the hard work of each and everyone for time taken in assisting me with my computer problems. Bobby.
