Hi, I recently started getting intermittent pauses while using my computer. They last for half a second or so, and occur once every 5 -10 seconds on some occasions. They are occurring while I'm typing this message, yet the keystrokes are still registered - it just takes a moment for the screen to "catch up." It doesn't affect music / sound streaming, or anything in a functional way, it only seems to affect the graphical portion of operation.

I've received a number of blackouts in my area lately, and it has started happening since then - so I accept that it may well be some kind of hardware fault, but I'd like to rule out any form of malware too.

    Cheers!

It's hard to say if it's malware (and at the moment I'm thinking no).

Please enter your System Details. It helps us in answering your questions!

Additionally how long have you had the computer in question?

Start by running chkdsk /f on all your partitions.

Hey guys, thanks very much for the help.

Rsinfo - I didn't even think of that, fixed my problems!

It seems I was too stupid to keep it simple... :)

    Good.

Now download CCleaner, install it & run it in all your logins. This would delete all the temp & junk files.
