    Hi,

I found a Windows manual which says as an extension of a dual boot installation
you can install W7 to a separate disc altogether when installed. But it doesn't
specify if this disc has to be internal or can be external. I'm debating installing
W7 to an external hard drive as a permanent installation.

Has anyone done this ? Have any further info regarding this ?

    thx

    patrick

No Windows Operating System can be installed on an external drive - even if you could it would be more than painfully slow with the transfer rate of USB.

Either create a new partition on your existing drive if you have the room or install a second hard drive - desktop. In both cases make a custom install of Windows 7 and point the installer to the required location.
