    Errrrrrrr......????

Well, I typed in "http://www.freeproxyserver.net/#" into the Firefox browser on the problem PC and (not surprisingly) got "Address Not Found Firefox can't find the server at www.freeproxyserver.net ".

With IE, I got the same "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage ".

Of course, I can get there from THIS PC and of course can go to Google from there.

Did I misunderstand the step? Since the problem PC hasn't been able to reach ANY "http" address, I knew/expected it would not to be able to connect with freeproxyserver. :(

    Please advise........thanks!

Just to remind.......all these communications are through a different PC than the one with the internet problem. I read the posts here from the OK PC and then move to the problem PC to execute the steps. On the problem PC, I can ping by address from a command prompt but cannot resolve/connect to http addresses through Firefox or IE. (i.e. I can directly ping my DNS servers from a command prompt on the problem PC, but when I try an "nslookup" the problem PC returns that the "DNS requests timed out ".

My "OK" PC has no connectivity issues whatsoever, nor does my occasionally connected wireless laptop.

    Hope I'm stating this clearly......

    Hi
Open a browser on the problem machine.

Type this in the address window. Then hit Enter

    64.233.187.99

Does that get you to Google?

    If so, then do this.

Download Dial-a-fix and Save it to your Desktop.
    • Right click on the Dial-a-fix zip and select Extract All
    • Once extracted, open the Dial-a-fix-vO.60.0.24 folder and run Dial-a-fix.exe
    • Click the hammer icon.
    • Select 'Reset Networking Interfaces' in the list and click GO.
    Check for any changes.

    Let me know.

    Cannot connect.....

Well, this time I got a different failure message

Typing 64.233.187.99 into Firefox and hitting enter produced:

    1. the address bar changed to "http://64.233.187.99/ "

    2. Firefox displayed "Failed to Connect "
Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at 64.233.187.99.
Though the site seems valid, the browser was unable to establish a connection.
    * Could the site be temporarily unavailable? Try again later.
    * Are you unable to browse other sites? Check the computer's newtwork connection.
    * Is your computer or network protected by a firewall or proxy? Incorrect settings can interfere with Web browsing.

Since the suggested first step didn't work, I did not download Dial-a-fix.

    Thanks, Geri, I admire your stick-to-it-ness! :D

    Hi
Well I'm about out of Ideas.

I think I would contact your ISP and see what they may have to say.

I have seen this before with no resolution to the problem.

Wish I could be more help. You can post in our networking forum and see if you get any ideas.

If you get it figured out let us know what you did.

    Thanks
    Geri
