About 2 weeks backwards my computer caught the AntivirusXp 2008 malware (I blame myself for running with blatantly obsolete AV software of 2006 F-Secure). The obvious lack of the very much advertised "no "-button in the AVXp 2008 installation window made the alarm bells ring and I managed to remove the annoying inremovable window with some use of CTRL-ALT-DEL and at the process I found out what was the .exe file behind this mischief (named something like t11.tmp in my Temp). I promptly removed it and its fellow files and reconed I had gallantly defeated the threat.

Still the trademark backround image of a vista pop up window telling me I have malware is etched into my system, along with the restriction of my options in modifying the properties of my screen. Also my screen saver is one that alternates between a few different "blue screens" which display a "restarting..." text at the bottom (which has cool animation with the ... dots going from 1 to 3) and a windows booting screen with obviously fake colours (a good try though).

In addition my AV program has become horribly mangled. As a reasonable fellow I bought a copy of F-secure internet security 2008 to protect myself from future incursions and to get rid of the remaining problems. The installation required me to uninstall my previous AV program, which I thought to be relatively easy. It's not. I have to remove it via the ADD/Remove applications tool via the Control Panel, but my F-secure 2006 wasn't listed there. I thought it was because the virus had mangled it, so I reinstalled the FS2006 and yay it popped up in the Add/remove menu. I removed it and yikes, it's still in my computer and it doesn't show in the menu anymore again.

So I can't get any new AV hardware on my computer, the old is just old and my internet usage is clearly affected (internet is slower and can't access some pages, e.g. AdAware's page or ZoneAlarm page). So I am very hesitant of plugging the computer to the Internet and I'm writing this from another computer.

I am badly late with seeking advice, but I decided to ignore the problem, because I had my matriculation examinations to think about, but now I want to deal with it.

    Help! Please
