    Run Norton Removal Tool: http://service1.symantec.com/Support/tsgeninfo.nsf/docid/2005033108162039

Download and install one of these....

    - Avira free antivirus: http://www.free-av.com/en/download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html
    - Avast! free antivirus: http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

    - free Comodo Internet Security (firewall + AV): http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/
NOTE. During installation, Comodo will also allow you to install AV only, or firewall only, if you prefer to combine one Comodo product with some other product.

If you decide to install Avast, or Avira, make sure, Windows firewall is turned on, or use Comodo firewall..
If you decide to install Comodo Internet Security, or just Comodo firewall, make sure, Windows firewall is turned off.

IMPORTANT! Make sure, you use only ONE antivirus, and ONE firewall.

After installation, run full scan. Report on any findings.

    Finally, post fresh HJT log.

I am currently running Windows Firewall, Panda Cloud Antivirus, and SpyBot. Are these satisfactory? Or do you recommend your Trifecta?
I also use Symantec Norton ACT is that what's showing up with the trace of Norton?

    Good enough.

I'm not familiar with Norton ACT, but I can see Norton AV leftover running, so I still recommend, you run Norton Removal Tool and post fresh HJT log.

    Good Evening From Va Beach.

The Symantec/Norton/Act is a holdover from the ACT 2000 Client Contact Software. My guess is that any Act 2000 update picked up strains of the other afore mentioned security company component updates that came about as a result of the merger of those three companies. I tried the Norton Removal but, apparently it does not address the earlier version of ACT 2000.

Therefore the HJT just above was exclusive of the Norton Removal suggestion. If you have additional ideas on how to circumvent ACT/Norton/Symantec, I could give it a go.

Thanks for all of your help..

    Renie

Uninstall AskBarDis through Programs & Features in Control Panel.

    ================================================================

Disable TeaTimer, as it'll interfere with the cleaning process:
Right click Spybot's TeaTimer System Tray Icon.
    Click Exit Spybot-S&D Resident.
    TeaTimer closes.
NOTE. If on re-boot, Spybot inquires about registry change(s), allow it.

    ===============================================================

Print this post out, since you won't have an access to it, at some point.

    1. Open HijackThis.

    2. Close all windows, except for HijackThis.

    3. Put checkmarks next to the following HijackThis entries:

    - O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4EFB-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)

    4. You should also checkmark following entries (these are unnecessary startups; no actual programs will be removed):

    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hpqSRMon] C:\Program Files\HP\Digital Imaging\bin\hpqSRMon.exe
    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WrtMon.exe] C:\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\WrtMon.exe
    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [NvCplDaemon] RUNDLL32.EXE C:\Windows\system32\NvCpl.dll,NvStartup
    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (reboot)] "C:\Program Files\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbam.exe" /runcleanupscript (leave this one alone, if you have paid version)
    - O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [SunJavaUpdateSched] "C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\jusched.exe "
    - O20 - Winlogon Notify: !SASWinLogon - C:\Program Files\SUPERAntiSpyware\SASWINLO.dll

    5. Click on Fix checked button.

    6. Go Start>Run (Vista users - "Start search "), type in:
    cmd
Click OK (Vista users - hold CTRL, and SHIFT keys, press Enter).

    Command Prompt window will open.
    Type in:
    sc stop LiveUpdate
    Press Enter.
Wait for the service to be stopped.

    Type in:
    sc delete LiveUpdate
    Press Enter.
    Wait for confirmation.

    7. Restart computer.

    8. Post new HijackThis log.

    Your computer is clean :)

    1. Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC)
Double click on TFC.exe to run the program.
Click on Start button to begin cleaning process.
TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer.

    2. Turn off System Restore:

    - Windows XP:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right-click the My Computer icon, and then click Properties.
    3. Click the System Restore tab.
    4. Check "Turn off System Restore ".
    5. Click Apply.
    6. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click Yes to do this.
    7. Click OK.
    - Windows Vista:
    1. Click Start.
    2. Right-click the Computer icon, and then click Properties.
    3. Click on System Protection under the Tasks column on the left side
    4. Click on Continue on the "User Account Control" window that pops up
    5. Under the System Protection tab, find Available Disks
    6. Uncheck the box for any drive you wish to disable system restore on (in most cases, drive "C: ")
    7. When turning off System Restore, the existing restore points will be deleted. Click "Turn System Restore Off" on the popup window to do this.
    8. Click OK

    3. Restart computer.

    4. Turn System Restore on.

    5. Make sure, Windows Updates are current.

[SIZE= "4"]6. If any Trojan was listed among your infection(s), make sure, you change all of your on-line important passwords (bank account(s), secured web sites, etc.) immediately![/SIZE]

    7. Download, and install WOT (Web OF Trust): http://www.mywot.com/. It'll warn you (in most cases) about dangerous web sites.

    8. Run defrag at your convenience.

    9. Read How did I get infected?, With steps so it does not happen again!: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic2520.html

    10. Please, let me know, how is your computer doing.
