I unzipped the files from XPHomeFiles, and made them Read Only so they wouldn't be deleted during a reboot. However, I still can't get KillBox to work - I keep getting the same error message (even after I downloaded it again).

Is there a way I can manually delete the files that KillBox was supposed to target?

OK, with Killbox we could run them all at once, we'll have to use a different tool, but just kill each file one at a time.

Download FileAssasin from here. Save it to your desktop.

    Run the executable to install.

To delete the files, use the (...) button to navigate to each file then hit the [Delete] button for each.

Let me know if you run into any problems.

    Ok, only a couple problems.

When I ran FileAssassin, it was unable to delete the file C:\WINDOWS\system32\aRES.dll

And when I checked off the items in HJT, and selected "Fix," this message came up (although, based on my amateur opinion, it doesn't sound like a problem):

Anyway, here's the new HJT log you wanted to see:

Ok, yeah that error happens some times when HJT tries to delete the files located in 020 entries, no worries there.

DL Unlocker. Save it to your desktop follow the install prompts, don't use it yet.

    Download
Lets try FileAssasin in safe mode on the following files:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\aRES.dll<<<--this file
    C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winlogon.exe<<<--this file

If you get any errors about the file being in use, the try Unlocker:
    Locate the file
    Right-click and select 'Unlocker'
In the window that appears select 'Unlock All'
In the drop down menu select 'delete'.

See if they delete, reboot, post new log.
