    To run Group Policy:

    Start > Run > gpedit.msc > ok

    Click on:
    • Computer Configuration
      • Administrative Templates
        • Windows Components
          • Internet Explorer
            • Toolbars
On the right hand side locate: Use large Icons for Command Buttons
(it should be the last in the list)
    • Double click on it
    • Select Not Configured
    • Apply > Ok > Close Group Policy Window
    Restart

Kimsland—I followed your instructions & here is what happen:

I ran gpedit & when it opened I clicked on Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Window Components—

Internet Explorer DID NOT SHOW under Windows Components—what show was:

    Search
    Windows Media
    Windows Update

The only listing that had a list with something in it pertaining to to bars was the SEARCH listing (and belive me I went thru the whole TREE looking for toolbar related listings)

The listing under SEARCH said--- "Set Large or Small Icon view in Desktop search results" it was already listed as NOT CONFIGURED—

I double clicked on it and a box came up with 2 TABS in it

The first tab was Labled SETTING

Then it said---Set small or large icon view in desktop search results

Below it where 3 more listing with the little RADIO buttons

    0 Not Configured
    0 Enabled
    0 Disabled

Then below that was a BLANK SCROLL DOWN BOX

Then I clicked on "“ Not Configured and nothing happen in the scroll box

Then I clicked on "“ Enabled & it gave me 2 choices in the scroll box

    Large Icons
    Small Icons

I clicked on Small Icons and closed everything out & restarted the computer. Nothing changed—same as before.

Next I clicked on Large Icons "“ same thing as before
Then I clicked on the DISABLED listing and the Scroll box gave me NO selections.

I then clicked on NOT CONFIGURED and again the scroll box gave me no listing

The OTHER TAB at the TOP was listed as -- EXPLAIN

When I clicked on it this is what it said:

Set small or large icon view in desktop search results

    Then beneath that:

Enabling this policy allows you to specify whether you want large icon or small icon view for your Desktop Search results. The two options are:

    - Large Icon
    - Small Icon.

If you have disabled the preview pane because your organization does not support Office XP or above, you should enforce the large icon view so that users can see snippets related to their desktop search query.

When this policy is disabled or not configured, the default is small icon view.

I’m ready to give up on this and just live with the large icons till I get me a new computer unless you think of anything else.

    Thanks once again,
    Paul

I have just confirmed on a stock standard XP Pro SP3 install that the above tree (in full) exists
All the way to Use large Icons for Command Buttons under Internet Explorer > Toolbars

Under Windows Components "Search ", Did not show! But "Windows Media Player" did, plus many more, including "Internet Explorer "

    Please check again
