Lets try starting IE8 with no add-ons and see if that solves the problem. Click Start< All Programs< Accessories< System Tools< Internet Explorer (No Add-ons)

Once IE8 starts with no add-ons see if you can visit some websites normally without IE8 going back to the home page every time. If that works then you will have to open IE8 and click Tools< Manage add-ons and disable each add-on one at a time until you find the cuplrit.

If disabling all the add-ons in IE8 does not solve the problem then try Resetting Internet Explorer settings.

If resetting the Internet Explorer settings and disabling all Internet add-ons does not get IE8 running properly then download and install Internet Explorer 9 (For 32-bit systems) or Internet Explorer 9 (For 64-bit systems).
