    Hey Jim,
Thanks for info. I kinda thought some things redundant also. That's a pretty wide bar at the top. Do I understand correctly you have IE7 but with IE6 layout? I preferred that myself . IE6 tool bar that is. I have some links running across the bar but notice odd behavior. For example, I use TinyUrl and have it on the links line next to hotmail. So when I click on it, it first opens a window asking me if I want it on the clipboard. What's with that?
Be faster to simply use a desktop shortcut to their site as I always did before.

Tried to get rid of an item or two from the links but was asked if I wanted to send to trash. Was afraid that'd delete the program so left it.
I guess all new things take a bit of getting used to.

J D PEIPER--I used the tweaks in this reference
    http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/tweaks.asp

However, there are many things that cannot be changed. You cannot move the items on the bars where you want them. The shortcut link for Favorites is completely on the other side of the Tool bar from RSS, Read Mail, etc. And Refresh and Stop are in another toolbar entirely. Pretty unergonometric in my view.
Attached is an image of my Toolbars and Menubar.
I know nothing about TinyURL so cannot comment.
Do not worry about deleting items from Links. They are only shortcuts, not the programs. On my PC they reside in the Links folder in Favorites. I put the Links folder in the Favorites folder using TweakUI (under Explorer). And as you did, I put Links on the Toolbar by right clicking a blank spot on the Toolbar and checking Links.

Hey, How Can I Do That?

Your tool bar is what I'd like to end up with. For example, I can't find a way of putting the windows update on there. I have marketplace, which I don't want, I have nothing that actually says your mail or anything, just a small icon and free hotmail. Which I guess is okay since I do have a hotmail account also.
I once had tweaks on another machine (long gone) and got a bit messed up using it, but I'll try your link with much thanks.

You can add the Mail icon to the Command Bar as I described earlier.

J D PEIPER--The Windows Update on my Menu Bar is actually a Link. First I put the shortcut to Windows Update into the Links Folder. Then I right clicked the Toolbar and checked Links. You can manoeuver the position of the Links line if Lock Toolbars (again right click on a blank spot on the Toolbar) is unchecked.
Within Links, you can move around the position of the various Links by clicking the blue down arrow and dragging them around. I chose to have only Windows Update show on the Toolbar (I access the other Links through the blue down arrow) by putting Windows Update at the top of the list and then limiting the size of the Links window so only one Link shows.
Might be good to Lock the Toolbars once you get everything set up.

P.S. You gotta have a red dragon with a username like mine. :)

OK, not sure I like this new IE7, hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

How can you get your favorites to automatically expand when mouse over like you could in IE6? Now you have to click to open the favorites menu (same as before except it is in a different place), but instead of expanding the folder when you mouse over you have to open each folder to find what you want.

I did your tweak and put the menu bar on top of the address bar, which then presented another problem. It is now connected to my roboform bar and when you move one both go together.

So how do I put the address bar back at the top? And why can't I customize my menu bar?

Another problem, not sure this is the right thread or not, but I do surveys, particularly Pinecone Research and every time I click 'next' for the next question, I get a pop up window asking if I want to allow this site to access my clipboard. What's with that? Never had that in IE6 and not sure that it does it on any other site, is there a fix for that?

Oh yeah, and what happened to "send link to desktop "???????

Right Click on a blank area of the Command Bar and check menu bar. The familiar menu bar from IE 6 appears - mouse over Favourites and their sub folders as before.
Run the Undo reg file to undo the tweak ....

    http://www.enhanceie.com/ie/tweaks.asp
Right click on the Command Bar - that's the one with the Home icon, etc and click on Customise.
Look in Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, but first read Arie's article ....

How to surf more safely with Internet Explorer 7
Dunno, but no doubt someone will :)

That's to customize the command bar not the menu bar the one that was in IE6 with file, edit, view etc. on it. You can customize the new "command bar" but not the "menu bar ", they are 2 separate toolbars.

The Command bar effectively replaces the menu bar in IE 7, but the facility exists to show it if you wish. I don't remember being able to customise the menu bar in IE 6, just the iconbar displayed at the top of the window - that is replaced by the Command Bar (for better or for worse :))

I use roboform, and have messed around with this a bit. If you have you're menu bar at the top, you should be able to move it anywhere you want except below the address bar. Right click on the command bar and uncheck lock the toolbars. Then put your cursor just to the left of the roboform icon, click and hold your left mouse button and your cursor will turn into a four way arrow. When it does, continue to hold down your left mouse button, then drag it wherever you want it.

If it's on a bar with something else on it and some of it gets hidden you can (if you leave the toolbars unlocked) put your cursor to the left of the icon again (same as before) and double click. The one you double click on will slide out so you can see the whole thing. To put it back, double click again and it'll slide back to the way it was. You can also do this with the other item that's sharing the same line bar.

Also, FWIW, you can put the roboform toolbar at the bottom of your browser window. Just go into roboform's options and click on toolbar and then tic show lower toolbar. This is usually the way I use it. If you try it, you may have to close your browser after making the setting for it to take effect. To close it when it's on the bottom, there's an X at the far right of the toolbar that you can click on. If you want it to show again, just click the roboform icon in the command bar. The only problem I've noticed with it being on the bottom is that if you scroll all the way to the bottom of a web page it will cover anything that is located there. It usually isn't a problem, but once in a great while it can get in the way. When this happens I just close it. Actually, I usually have it hidden anyway. When I visit a site where I need it, I just click the roboform icon in the command bar and the toolbar appears at the bottom with the necessary info, ready to do it's thing for you.

In case no one has figured it out about the create desktop shortcut I referred to in my earlier post, I have now found that if you right click within the page that is where the create desktop shortcut is.

Now my new IE 7 is complete and GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!
