I want to buy a WD 1TB My Book Essential External HD

But should I? I've read a lot of reviews and when the stats are in it comes in around 70/30 good to bad.

Do I really need it? no, but I want it. I just don't want to buy a problematic product.

I've got a 350GB HD with only about 89 GB used but I would like to be able to clone my primary drive rather than back up on DVDs.

Anyone have any experience with Western Digital products?

I have bought 3 My Books and they all work great. 2 are 500GB and one is the 1TB. So far no problems. My son actually has the 1TB at college so he can download a bunch of music and movies. I buy nothing but WD products and have never had a problem. Just one guy's opinion.

Yes, but, it depends on the receivers perception of the opinion and the deliverer.....
