IE always used to open on boot-up in Folders mode. Currently it opens showing the contents of one folder in the entire window.

How can I correct its ill manners?

So, did the solution in the thread I posted resolve the issue?

No - but not for the reason you might hold.
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer (all clicked) brings up WE. Yes! But you can right-click on that until the cows come home in the morning and not get a 'Properties' option. The posting omitted to clarify that the thing to right-click on is the 'Windows Explorer' entry in the MENU.

I am too dumb for that sort of subtlety.

The problem actually boiled down to 'Pilot Error'. I was bringing up WE by
Start -> Search. I should have been using
Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer.
That appears to have made the difference. It certainly came up fine this morning.

    Sincere thanks for your help.

You're welcome :) - I have never understood the logic of MS in burying Windows Explorer so deep (Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer) in consecutive OS's up to and including 7.
