Title says it all. I came home from work and my roommate said he was on his friends site that they believed was hacked/hijacked. (quite stupid on his part) later he was logging into facebook and upon entering his password IE went crazy and opened to quote him: "a ton of IE windows" so he hit the power button and forced the computer off. Now the computer wont do anything but make a black screen. I have tried hooking it up to another monitor and recieved the same results, pulled the ram out 1 by 1*has 4 1g DDR2*. I can still hear the hard drive starting, heat syc is going. However the keyboard is not lighting up *numlock, caps, ect*.

Was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to solve this problem.

    specs:

    AMD2 duelcore 2.6ghz
    325G Hard drive
    onboard video/sound cards
    4Gigs of DDR2 ram

    Hi slipn, Welcome to WindowsBBS.:)

It would help if you filled in your complete PC details under User CP.
. Please click on the link and follow those instructions it could save some time when resolving this or further issues.

A common error is to forget to show your system details in your profile
    Quote:
To have your system specifications displayed in your profile, you have to click the link Edit Options, and under Thread Display Options > System Specifications select Yes from the drop-down menu.
If you do add your system specifications be sure to do the above

You may have Malware which has invaded your system or the HD may be starting go South. Neil.

Do you see anything on the screen? If not, you should "Clear the CMOS ".

First though, you should disconnect any added/connected hardware. Open the case, disconnect and reconnect the cables to the drives (don't just wiggle them) and where they connect to the motherboard. You might even want to try connecting a different mouse and keyboard if you have some handy.

It sounds like it is having a problem identifying a piece of hardware.

To Clear the CMOS, read in the manual/User Guide, you could get it from the HP website if you can't find your copy. Another way is to disconnect the power and remove the (CMOS) battery from the motherboard for 30 seconds or more.

I will move this to the Hardware forum.

    Matt
