    hi

I need to use Outlook Express 6 for connectiong to POP3 server via TSL protocol, can this do OE or it can do only SSL connections?

    thanks

Try using the default ports rather than the SSL ports. For POP, that
would be port 110 and for SMTP, it's port 25. TLS will work with the
normal POP and SMTP ports. Only SSL needs to use special ports.

I know port for connection... problem is that OE use standard protocol, when I sniff packets, password was sent unencrypted. I need to force OE to use TSL, which is supported on server....

If you use the standard ports, OE wil use TLS instead of SSL.

If you remain unhappy with it, try Pegasus or Thunderbird, two examples (I am sure there must be more) that support TLS directly.

    hmm

my problem, I set POP3 server on port 110 in OE, I uncheck use secure connection, problem is then OE use uncrypted connection, OE don't send command STARTTLS, OE just authentificate user with standard USER and PASS, maybe it is problem in exim server configuration?

    thanks

    Leave secure connection checked.
You would be aided by the changes made concurrent to IE 7 Final. TLS is made the primary security schema and SSL is deprecated.

See the following, as enabling FIPs is suggested:

    hi

well I still have OE 6.00.2900.2180, I'll wait few weeks until some bugs on IE7 will be found..

problem with my OE is, that even my POP3 server support TLS, in OE I have set secure connection and port 110, OE still try use SSL instead of TSL, look at communication:
